An Extraordinary Day of Vital Conversation, Learning and Opportunity
The National Association of Minority Engineers (NOME) held their 2nd Leadership Summit on June 30, 2016 at the innovative University of Chicago’s Gleacher Center. The day was energized with Cook County Board President, Toni Preckwinckle, as our kick off speaker. The day gave poignant advice on City of Chicago development, enhancing business, a check on your health, an update on transportation and utility opportunities.
Everyone enjoyed a scrumptious buffet while enjoying our awards celebration. The Inaugural Premier and Stellar Star Awards Luncheon was a tribute to NOME members that had completed outstanding engineering projects. Milhouse Engineering and Construction won the Premier Award for Achievement Acting as a Sub, Infrastructure Engineering won the Premier Award for Achievement Acting as a Team and ABNA won the Premier Award for Achievement Acting as a Prime. The top score award winner from the Premier Awardees was Milhouse Engineering, winning the Stellar Star Award. Our talented and beautiful emcee, Michelle Releford from NBC5, kept everyone superbly engaged as we honored engineering excellence.
Attendees enjoyed our dynamic closing speaker, Greg Bedalov, Executive Director of the Illinois Tollway. The day ended with a networking reception that offered a great opportunity to talk and browse the booths sponsored by METRA, Illinois Tollway, Patrick Engineering, MWRDGC, Living Health Works and Cheri K. Lewis Engineers.
